now that i monitor the jewelry studio on fridays and saturdays..
i am trying to do work work work on those days now so i can have sundays off with justin to do as we please! i am not even taking that many classes, but i am pretty busy already.

i keep hearing people that are graduating in May kinda freaking out.. real world!
i have to admit i am a little sad not to walk with those people and be freakin done with school, but i am glad i get to take my time and only take a few classes each semester. i hope my college experience has been a little less stressful and hopefully more productive in jewelry in doing so.
but it is going to be so weird to still be here with so many people leaving!
i will be the only one (and oldest!) in my level next year.. its weird to feel old!
i hope i dont get super senioritus next year.. but i am thinking of only going part time and getting a job.

speaking of next year.. my johnson scholarship for free dorms will run out, so i will be moving in with justin [permanently!] eeep! strange to think about, but its not going to be much of a change. it actually feels wrong not living together, we are truly meant to be together. the idea of finally getting to cuddle and sleep together every single night is something we have been dreaming (ha) about for a while.

i have been day dreaming about the future alot lately.
Justin has been setting some goals for the next few years... buying a house, which will help him get a loan to open his own bar.
his ultimate goal is to have a fine dining restaurant, but he needs to start smaller.

but really.. a bar would be awesome! haha. its going to be a nice bar with amazing food.. but not quite gourmet. i havent decided yet whether i want to be a bartender or waitress.. but i have time! i cant wait to use my art degree to help with interior decorating, possible art shows, flyers and marketing. my entrepreneurship minor wont hurt either!

i love that we are getting so excited and planning like 3 years ahead, but i think it will only help us be completely prepared when we go through with it.

hopefully with that income i can spend my days making jewelry to sell to stores or design for companies.

i have been thinking of where i want my jewelry to go and have decided on high end fashion pieces that i can sell to anthropologie and similar stores. their price ranges can be pretty high, so i think they can afford me ;)

i am back in charlotte at justin's.. which is a major change from the 9 people household in myrtle beach.

this post was really hard, if you can imagine i have 429429048290 pics of them... another post to come with good times with the sisters (it involves my little brother being DD!)
but it made me miss them even more :(
i hope i get to spend a lot of time with them in SD.

yep. found out i had that in highschool.. why i get so winded so easily and have a hard time falling asleep at night.

well, unfortunately its still pumping pretty fast.. although i am trying to relax.
its funny how politics can get me so rowled up. sp? haha.

probably why my political science teacher told me i should have it as my minor.

honestly.. i would enjoy it perhaps, because its important.
but i would absolutely hate it.

it kinda makes me sick... i hate arguing with people about issues, because honestly.. its your opinion..you are entitled to it.

i just want to share mine on occasion.

as i did on facebook.. which i knew would be controversial.. ABORTION!! haha.
i just dont agree with McCain wanting to overturn roe vs wade and make all abortions illegal.
and i dislike him for the fact that he has voted against all women's health issues for years.

for this fact.. i tagged all my girl friends on facebook.. just so they would know his stance. (like 50% of his female supporters did not know)

isnt it funny that only negative comments (IN CAPS CUZ I AM ANGRY!!!) were from

men?

ugh if i thought i had low motivation last semester...
trying to get shit done this summer is waaaaaaaay worse.

i have finished one essay.. two more to go. along with completing 2 study guides for the 2 EXAMS I HAVE ON THE LAST DAY OF CLASS!! haha.
i shouldn't be complaining.. i had a week to do all of this for this class.

I got the freaking runaround these past few days to sign up for another summer class (i realized i was short 2 hours)
I found a class at coastal that is only online.. so i can come back to charlotte when i need to (2 year anniversary on june 18th <33).
intro to webpage design.. so atleast its useful.

little did i know that i first needed to apply to coastal.. 45 bucks.. fax it to them..
get my transcript from winthrop.. 15.. fax that to them and i need a hard copy to give them later.. lab fee 35... and the course itself..
drum rolllllll 900 dollars!!

for serious? one class? an online class at that?
well.. i still need to call the governors office to see if they will reimburse me..
lets hope!!

just when i was having a shitty walmart trip (shittier than normal, atleast)..

My sister is currently in ecuador and the other sister lives in arizona with her husband and three kids. My mom, dad, and brother are still in myrtle beach.. so we all decided to download skype to talk to eachother.
so i bought a webcam.. with microphone included for 20 bucks! ..its kinda shitty though. ah well.. gets the job done.

I got to see my neice Maisey, (10) my nephew Jazz, (6), and the littlest Melaya (3) on Merissa's webcam.. and oooooommmmmg. They have gotten so big.
I will get to see them this summer.. which will make it 2 years since the last time.

I have decided i want to continue to have my hair super long until i get married. i think my wedding photos would look better with long, curly pretty hair.. then i will chop it off.. because i will need a change. a big one. (weird how attached you get when you have had long hair for like 7 years!)


It's lovely outside.. so why am I on the computer? ugh i frustrate myself sometimes.

everyone needs a sick day.. and since i dont get sick.. i just took one randomly. I want to feel productive.

I entered Palmetto hands exhibition and got all 4 pieces in.. which was great news.
I then finished a ring that i made from brophy's broken cell phone.. and turned that in (along with one piece accepted to palmetto hands) into the undergrad juried exhibition at winthrop.. i find out friday if i made one in..
Tabitha is leaving friday to columbia and said she would take my pieces with her to the south carolina museum exhibition.. so i have to hear back from winthrop first!
I might also take a bracelet from palmetto hands and enter that into the scstate museum.. so i can be in more exhibitions..
or i should make more jewelry!! i wish i had the time...

We are also having a booth for the 'come see me' festival in rock hill april 20th. i hear like 7,000 people come to this crap.. so i need to make some stuff to sell there..
i bet i can whip out some silver rings pretty quick and have my business cards there..
sometimes i think i spread myself too thin!

i am also simultaneously working on two projects for jewelry.. i feel so behind considering we only have like 4 weeks left of school. eep....

well, writing this post really motivated me to do something.. so i dont freak out!

i am in the process of making mokume gane (google it!)
and its pretty exciting!
i started with a stack of copper and sterling silver (about 15 pieces)
and i have been forging and rolling it down into sheet.
i am at 10 gage! yay! haha.. uuuugh i need 16 or 18!

soon i will get to chase some patterns into it and start getting the woodgrain look.
which is the most exciting part!! .aaaaaahhh.nerd.

sorry there are no pics, its probably hard to get the idea of the process without them.. but soon enough.

In digital photo, we just got done with panoramic photos using 5 or more images.

i have never felt so euphoric.. like constantly.
i look at justin with the same eyes as almost two years ago.
we had an amazing time salsa dancing this past weekend. we tend to get into routines.. as most couples.. and this was the perfect opportunity to jump into something completely foreign to us.
we just had eachother, and laughed the whole time at the absurd amount of steps we couldnt seem to remember. he said all he could see was me.. and the smile i had painted on my face the entire night.
he has never danced.. and felt that he has broken out of that shell..
i have always danced.. and have finally gained a partner.
and a cute one at that!


soon, justin will be buying me a bike (IOU from christmas.. we just cant find the right one!)
we can go bike riding together soon enough!! we want to go long distance.. and discover new parts of rock hill.
we had fun in the winthrop woods on sunday.. just wandering around and taking pictures.
it was a bit cold to hang out at the lake much longer..
which seriously makes me crave summer. picnics!

cant wait until valentine's day. i dont even care what he gives me.. i just love being with him.

who knew how we survived long distance before this year!!! its ridiculous to even imagine.. but we never want to go back.

christmas break has been much needed.. i feel quite useless doing nothing all day.. but it is lovely compared to all the freaking work i did all semester.

i cant wait to get back to charlotte to celebrate new years with justin before i fly out to south dakota.
I am soooooooo excited because i have lived in myrtle beach since 2000.. and have not seen real snow since then. everyone in SD says they hate it and all..

but i am fucking sledding when i get there.

along with snow sculptures, snow angels, and snowball fights.. it will be my childhood all over again.

and i will have a fucking bomb ass camera to record it all!!

i got home from the SNAG (society of north american goldsmiths) conference a couple of days ago.
i get horrible car sickness though, so i tried dramamine for the first time.
if you can imagine this scenario...
3 and a half hours from myrtle beach to rock hill, spent the night a few nights to use the studio.. then loaded up in the van at 6 am.
7 full grown adults (me the smallest) in a minivan.
yep. 3 people smushed in the very back.
to memphis tennessee.
11 hours.

hahaha. i took my pills and passed the eff out. so it wasnt too bad.

the conference was amazing though.
i have never felt so inspired... so often!
4 days straight of seeing other students art, professional, not to mention everyone wore their metalwork each night, so you could ask them about it.

ahh! awesome! i got like 5 pages worth of new projects i would like to do.
as soon as i finish the damn silverware.


so i got back sunday night.. on my anniversary!
justin and i feel like such newbies.. we have only been dating for a year, but it feels like so much longer!!
i never knew i could be so in love.

well actually with working with steel in general. for sculpture 2, we are making african mask self portraits... i dont have any pictures yet, but i will post soon!

so the back piece is going to be like a huge fan. in about 6 hours, i cut out the shapes, straighted the edges with the grinder and got rid of the rust with the grinder as well. the actually welding only took like 30 minutes! haha, it has been tiring and painful at times.. but i am totally in love with it. (yes, my arms are getting even more diesel.. oh noooo!)

just the back crown-ish part that i finished today is like 2 ft by 3 feet.. i love getting to work in large scale, esp after getting out of jewelry.

speaking of jewelry, we are starting wax carving to cast.. and its quite fun too! i was almost done carving a ring when i accidentally cracked it! (like i said.. diesel) luckily it was a clean break, so i could super glue it, as long as it doesnt break again.. i wont have to start over! (for the love..)

first day of classes. so far so good.

yesss.. i am done with all of my exams except jewelry.. which means i have sat, sun and monday to work on some brooches before tuesday! then i am outta this bitch!
hmm well here are some pictures from my sculpture class
the project was to make a wood sculpture of a prosthetic that fits your body.. it can help you or restrain you from doing something.
i decided to make a set of gears that end up pushing my leg down further into a split.
